My name is Robert Carlock. I am currently working on a PhD in history at George Mason University in Virginia, with a focus on modern American history and digital history. During my time at GMU, I want to learn how to bring history to the public sphere and democratize the ways that we record and share history.
I graduated with an BA in history from Bowling Green State University in 2017, followed by an MA in history in 2017. My thesis, titled “A New (Bowling Green State) University: Educational Activism, Social Change, and Campus Protest in the Long Sixties”, analyzed the ways that students developed peaceful approaches to activism that led BGSU to be the only public residential university in Ohio to remain open following the Kent State shootings.
